How to leave the strongest impact with the seemingly simplest designs? Logo & Mascot designs have truly posed me this mind stretching challenge - to advocate for a unique brand message with the most "simple" designs when "simple" and "unique" are a paradox in existence. Diving deep to each and every single design elements - the colour palette, font size, typography, lines, shapes etc. I have learnt how each elements play it's own role in conveying the message. Undoubtedly, this skill have helped me understood how to appreciate the details and complexity of life, in turn contributing to my meticulous and empathetic nature as an individual and leader.
Magazines & Poster Designs

More visuals. Less words. Most outstanding. Most insightful. Just enough suspense. Poster design and Magazine Cover design have been one of my most dreadful design collateral simply because of how much conflicting requirements I have to meet as the designer to produce the "Most Outstanding" and "Most insightful" posters or "Interesting" magazine covers with "more visuals and less words". Common challenges like the lack of raw media collaterals to work with, the poor quality pictures, the main message I wish to convey being outshined by the visuals always made the process very difficult. However, it is in times like this that pushed me to think out of the box and make the best out of what's left to work with. For instance, I had no raw media collaterals to work with for the Hangout! Initiative poster and the EMO_OUT event promotion poster which left me with typographies, colours, icons and lines to work with. Through the arrangement, colours, and font of the words, I managed to turn words into design-visuals to fulfil the criteria or requirements. This form of design really taught me the art of storytelling through all forms of design elements including words. The copywriting work, visual hierarchy, line of focus and colour weightage honed my technical design skills greatly and further expanded my design variations too.
App Prototype Design
in-app features eg. exhibition summary, calendar and booking, interactive AR game, community platform and interactive map.
- Adobe XD
As part of an integrated project for 2 modules - Audience Research and User Interface & Experience Design, I was tasked to design an app prototype for an event exhibition. Based on insightful responses gathered through a focus group discussion with 5 other museum enthusiasts, I had to design an app prototype that comprised of interactive and informative features for the event participants to conveniently learn more about the event activities, make bookings, navigate across the event location in real time while staying communicated in the in-app community. Having only 2 months time to execute the design with no prior experience in designing of app prototypes was a breakthrough for me in my confidence for creatives work as I experienced how much I can practically help others enhance their experience with my design skills. This experience really trained my critical thinking skills and patience due to the complex steps I had to take to ensure each linking is done correctly and that the user journey is executed as planned.

What is the branding I want to go for? What is a suitable design direction to go for that aligns with the brand message? Here's the story behind each of the social media accounts I have managed:
HeyKaki X NTU Challenge 2022 : Banewna Kaki
In relation to the friendship challenge that puts true friendships into test, I chose the pastel colour palette and set light yellow and purple as our brand colour. Yellow to represent the joy and warmth one can get from a genuine friendship, and purple to represent the nobleness and mysterious nature of the concept of a true friend. Purposefully connecting the 3 posts in the same row, it is to convey the continuity and journey of a lasting friendship too.
Project Y(OUR)S
Encompassing the idea of close proximity and being down to earth, my entire design concept and branding for Project Y(OUR)S have been heavily inspired by the scrapbooking aesthetics which promoted connection to the inner you and also the action of writing letters to someone. Hence, I chose a very neutral colour palette for my post collaterals with a seemingly handwritten fonts for both my titles and subheadings to let my audience feel as if they have received a handmade card from Project Y(OUR)S mascot - Solar, which is seen in most of the post collaterals.
The Sandbox Advocates
Taking a more professional and entrepreneurial approach for the design branding of the Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Innovation and entrepreneurship club, me and my Vice President set on a very minimalist aesthetic and corporate font for all our posts while ensuring consistency across all of them in terms of the colour palette used and the fonts used.
