Overseas Merit Fellowship
The Overseas Merit Fellowship is a fully funded, multidisciplinary programme with the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, with only 40 students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic to be eligible for this prestigious award.
Being awarded this highly prestigious award, I have had the opportunity to learn more about the global topic on 'Sustainability' and interact with the academic mentors at the University Campus itself.

To me, OMF was more than just an overseas trip. It meant a home away from home for all 19 of us. The people, the growth, and the memories were what made this trip a core memory of our lives. Throughout this whole trip, I was given several opportunities to connect with more like-minded and motivated future leaders from other field of studies, and had many insightful conversations with the hosts Gurion Ang and Daniel Chew at The University of Queensland. Attending various project showcases and site visits, I am inspired by the passion and drive each expert displayed which encourages me to stay true to my own passion in the Chinese Media industry despite the many challenges to be faced.
Youth Expedition Project
Our team worked with the World Vision Cebu organization for this YEP-GO project as we served the Cebu youths online.
As there was a cultural exchange session in each week of our project, we managed to learn more about their language and dialects, singing culture, food and go-to places etc. While I did not manage to remember everything imparted to us after some time, I will always remember their positive and bright attitude towards everything.
This was especially impactful for me in a typhoon incident where the Cebu youths got affected during our sessions. Despite the direct impact on them, they stayed cheerful and reassured us while rearranging themselves to stay in the session with their limited internet connection. Not only that, they stayed attentive and involved the whole time my group was sharing with them more about Adobe Photoshop despite facing such messy situations due to typhoon, internet connection cut-off and limited space.
Taiwan Literary Trip
Being selected as one of the eligible students to represent Nan Chiau High School in the Cultural Immersion and Literary trip to Taiwan with Ming Dao High School. Through this 11-days trip, we have each been paired up with a student from Ming Dao High School to really interact with them and learn more about their culture. From school tours, to museum visits, workshops, etc., I managed to get exposed to so much of the literature field and Chinese culture.
International City Forum
I was also nominated to be one of the students to participate in the International City Forum where we discussed about different topics on the City's Landscape Development and the future of our society, while exchanging ideas with the students from Ming Dao High School.
