KOREAN CULTURAL CLUB
JAN 2023 - JAN 2024
PRESIDENT
As the President of NP KCC, an event-based CCA with 5 departments to oversee, I had to take care of all 280 members while being the main point of contact with my CCA Advisor and the Student Development Office.
With increasing physical events resuming, I proposed and implemented a change in our Committee operational system to increase involvement of the whole committee while allowing them to step out and step up more.
It was never an easy journey being the President of an ever-active CCA with multiple cultural events, performances and productions being held back-to-back. In order to maintain the balance between leading the club to adapt to the post-covid active era, and ensuring the welfare of all my members, I was constantly challenged to mentor my committee members through the planning of each event while liaising with my advisor consistently so as to coordinate all activities in our CCA.
JUL 2021 - JAN 2023
EVENTS COMMITTEE
MEMBER
I joined the KCC Committee under their Events Department and led the whole committee in the planning of:
- Chuseok Family Race
- Welcome Orientation
- Jigeum Uri One Day Bonding camp
- Year-End Event : A Thrilling Christmas
- Annual Bonding Camp: Hangeul Heist
- Annual General Meeting
- CCA Fiesta 2023
Being put in-charge to plan various events on top of school and my other commitments, I was heavily trained to manage my time, my team, my stress and any emergencies that came my way. For instance, I had to plan for both the online and physical version of the Annual Bonding Camp within less than 4 months due to the uncertainty of the covid situation with the huge crowd of participants.
PROJECT Y[OUR]S
DEC 2022 - SEP 2023
OVERALL PROJECT MANAGER
Project Y(OUR)S is a large-scale and complex project on the topic of mental wellbeing and emotional expression, comprising of a 3-day event,, Docudrama production, and a social media campaign. Having to step up as the Overall Lead/Project Manager of Project Y(OUR)S while handling the role of the KCC's President demands so much strength, resilience and discipline in me in order to push through this chapter.
My core motivation as the Project Y(OUR)S Lead is not just to empower my team to challenge themselves further in their individual pursuit of their own purpose, but also to spark a change amongst our peers in terms of the social sustainability sector. Project Y(OUR)S was also my main source of inspiration for my ongoing content creation project ETYQ.
DEC 2022 - SEP 2023
EVENT LEAD ORGANISER
The one-stop rage-room inspired event, spanning for 3 days, is the main deliverable of our project where we are looking to reposition the act of expressing emotions in a fun and new perspective.
Kick starting this project with zero funding support from the school, we are expected to self-source our own sponsors and pitch to them to execute this project. As the lead organiser of this event, I ideated the entire event concept and laid out the foundations of the event's programmes. Together with my team, we managed all of the event planning together by delegating logistics work, partnerships communications, operations crafting and risk management plans.
Managing a group of 17 externally recruited volunteers, to host a 100+pax event, across 3 full days developed me greatly in terms of my leadership skills, adaptability to the unexpected, stress management, and public speaking skills as I had to manage manpower shortage crisis due to sudden drop-outs of volunteers while facilitating the tour for external parties such as the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Corps Comm, and Director of Humanities and Social Sciences.
DEC 2022 - SEP 2023
MARKETING DIRECTOR
As the Marketing Director, I also helped to set the overall direction for our marketing strategies and established the branding for Project Y(OUR)S.
I helped to design the logo according to the professional and clean image I intended to put forth to our audience, in hope of establishing the sense of trust with them to associate our project with "safe space".
I also helped to design the brand mascot according to the warm and loving image I hoped to portray, in hope of establishing the mascot 'Solar' as our target audience's emotional support.
I am also in-charge of curating all design postings and short video postings while managing all 3 platforms of Project Y(OUR)S - Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
DEC 2022 - MAY 2023
DOCUDRAMA
DIRECTOR
As part of our main marketing content, we have to produce 3 short-form Docudramas inspired by true stories. Being appointed as the Director of this production, I had to set the overall vision and theme of all 3 episodes of Docudrama, in which I visioned it to help specific groups of youths put complex and suppressed feelings into words through the main character's dialogues.
I also took part in the crafting of 2 of the scripts as both of my story drafts based on my interviewee, Rayyan (@rayyanroulette), were selected as part of the production. Through both scripts, I aimed to address the topics on the normalised impacts on youths for living in an overly fast-paced and competitive society such as - appearance anxiety, toxic stereotypes, identity crisis, unrealistic expectations, high stress, and many more.
THE SANDBOX ADVOCATES
MAR 2022 - MAR 2023
WELFARE DIRECTOR
As the Welfare Director, I was tasked to ideate, structure and lead the whole Academic Year’s welfare events and initiatives to help advocates feel a greater sense of belonging in the TSBA Family, in which I’ve acquired strong event management, leadership, and time management skills.
I am grateful to be able to work with a genuine and committed team with the same vision in mind to fulfil the networking pillar of the entrepreneurial club while forging genuine bonds in our CCA.
JUL 2022 - NOV 2022
TEDx OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
As the TEDx Operations Director, I was initially in-charge of overseeing the internal operations of the team to manage the Volunteers Team by assigning roles and handling the Volunteer Recruitment Drive along with the Interviews and selection process.
However, mid-way through TEDx planning, there were rearrangements made to the operations end where I got allocated to be the Stage Director, overseeing the external operations of the team.
Despite the last minute rearrangement and limited manpower and time to work around with, I'm glad I still managed the role of the Stage Director of TEDx well facilitating the rehearsals and the stage directions on the day itself.
MAR 2022 - MAR 2023
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Along with the Vice-president of The Sandbox Advocates whom oversaw the marketing aspect, we were tasked to ideate and oversee the execution of our theme for the year by coordinating all social media postings. I had to vet and approve all social media postings while creating most content for the CCA Fiesta, events, and Open House.
This experience taught me so much on the streamlined work process of working on marketing collaterals in a team setting with the aid of a clearly defined marketing message and theme.
NAN CHIAU YOUNG MENTORS
APR 2021 - APR 2022
PUBLICITY HEAD
I had to set the direction of the Nan Chiau Young Mentor's social media page while ideating the possible initiatives we can launch. I was tasked to execute all the design works for postings and did most of the video editing for our video content.
Working in a team of like-minded individuals committed to contribute back to where our dreams started from, Nan Chiau High School, truly sparked my passion for social media marketing as it felt purposeful to be applying my budding skills in something I felt connected to.
